2608 Berkeley College students were involved in community service/volunteering/civic engagement activities facilitated by the College during the 2011-2012 academic year
These 2608 students donated approximately 11,863 volunteer hours to organizations in and for causes important to the communities surrounding all Berkeley College locations.
During this same period, 161 Berkeley College students were enrolled in Academic Service Learning courses (volunteer hours not tracked).
The following issue areas were addressed by community service/volunteering/civic engagement activities and service learning experiences during the 2011-2012 academic year: access and success in higher education; animal welfare; crime/criminal justice; disability issues; economic development; environment/sustainability issues; global citizenship; health care; HIV/AIDS; housing/homelessness; hunger; legal aid; poverty; reading/writing; senior/elder services; sexual assault; voting, and; veterans’ resources and support for active duty military and military families.
