In early April, I was approached by a friend and former colleague of mine asking if I would be willing to shave my head to raise money for pediatric cancer. It has been nearly four years since the passing of her son, and after leaving higher education profession, she began working for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives.
The event was held in NYC a few blocks away from our campus on the site of the Today Show. The focus was upon a barber attempting to break a Guinness World Record for shaving as many heads as he could in an hour. (And he did it!)
Considering the worthy cause, location, and the fact shaving my head is something I do several times a week; I gladly participated.
If I can help someone by simply doing something I do on a normal basis, it would be selfish of me to not do so. Want to do the same? Learn more here.
