Global Immersion Experiential Learning Program
Sandi DeDomenico & Stella Ordiales
MBA Students – School of Graduate Studies
The MBA students from Cohorts I and II have been afforded the unique opportunity to participate in the first global immersion experience. This trip will run from April 16-27, 2017, with the cohorts traveling to Mumbai and New Delhi, India. In order to drive home the material from classes, the cohorts will encounter major corporations, which will provide insight into how such companies are run on a global scale. Some of the companies we will be visiting include Indian and US corporations like PepsiCo, Microsoft, Mahindras, Mudra, CapGemini, and FabIndia. We will also attend a cross-cultural academic program at the Welingkar Institute of Management, Development & Research, Mumbai (“We School”). We are looking forward to visiting one of the ten wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, and other historical monuments in both Delhi & Mumbai. Throughout this trip, we will get a chance to taste the many cuisines of India, shake to the music of Bollywood and enjoy the beaches in Mumbai!
The Global Immersion Program will allow us to explore the international operations of various businesses, as well as learn about the customs and culture of the Indian people. Visiting India gives us a chance to apply the knowledge in globalization – almost a ‘learning by doing’ perspective. Exploring the unknown builds social and communication skills as well as teamwork and adaptability in a challenging, ever-evolving world. The experience will set the stage for creating a well-rounded, globally enhanced student body of Berkeley College School of Graduate Studies. As a final experience, we are learning through a ‘project management’ basis – each of us has been given a role and responsibility before and during our trip, which adds tremendous value to our academic experience. Our team is looking forward to this trip!
Be sure to follow along with our blog posts leading up to and during our trip!
