I can’t believe that Berkeley College’s Commencement ceremony is already less than three months away! Graduation is going to be one of the best days of my life! I will walk across the stage and make my family proud as a first generation college graduate. It seems as if I moved onto campus just the other day. As I finish up my coursework, it is starting to really set in that I am going to be finished with my undergraduate degree and fresh out into the professional world. Looking forward to the future after Berkeley, I have set realistic goals for myself. Being apart of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) on campus, it has made me realize that with goals, you have something to work towards achieving.
After being a volunteer for the past 2 years at graduation, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a student that is going to walk across the stage and shake President Michael Smith’s hand (and of course, take a selfie too)!
This moment is something that you wait for and dream of everyday when you’re sitting in classes, studying for the hard exams, and walking through the hallways on campus. It is the highlight of your college experience. I can’t wait, to see my parents faces as they see me complete my college journey.
That moment of walking across the stage will mean that I have completed something that I set out to do. When moving my life from Arkansas to New York for college, I knew that I was not only going to have to transition from High School to College, but also to the whole new world of New York. This moment is going to solidify that I made it. I made it through the tough classes, countless amounts of midterms and finals, and made some unforgettable memories along the way. May 11th, 2018 will be here before you know it and I am eager to see everyone there!
